There is very little information about James CHEEK, son of James CHEEK (1762) of Orange Co., NC.  He disappears from Orange Co., NC, after 1810.  He may be the James B. CHEEK who is listed in the 1830 and 1840 of Person Co., NC.  This James B. CHEEK may be the father of the Cheeks who are found in Caswell Co., NC.  However, more research is needed!

On April 18, 1807, James Cheek and Janie BAKER posted a marriage bond in Orange County, NC, with Charles MCAULEY as bondsman.  Two years later, on Feb. 15, 1809, James Cheek and Polley HOBBS posted a marriage bond in Orange County, NC, with Moses CARROLL as bondsman.  Mary "Polley" Hobbs was a daughter of William Hobbs, Sr., of Orange County.  The will of William HOBBS' dated Nov. 24, 1814, proved Feb. 1815, names wife Easther, sons James, Thomas, William, Jonathan, David, John, and Harbard HOBBS; daughters Susannah HOBBS, Mary CHEEK, and Elizabeth CHAMBERS, and son-in-law Thomas DURHAM.
