He married Mary "Polly" Andrews, daughter of James Carr ANDREWS & Elizabeth CROUSE, Nov. 27, 1853, in Ashe Co., NC. She was born Jan. 25, 1834, in Ashe Co., NC, and died Jan. 13, 1913, in Alleghany Co., NC. Mary and John are buried at the J.R. Cox Cemetery, Road 1411 in Alleghany Co., NC.
