Henderson Crouse, son of Benjamin CROUSE & Wady CHEEK, was born June 15, 1835, in Ashe Co., NC, and died July 8, 1913, in Alleghany Co., NC. He married Mary Ann Howell, Mar. 4, 1856, in Ashe Co., NC. She was born Sept. 7, 1837, in North Carolina, and died Dec. 6, 1912, in Alleghany Co., NC. Henderson and Mary Ann Crouse are buried at the Henderson Crouse Cemetery, off Road 1131 in the Doughton Park Campground, Alleghany Co., NC.

Henderson Crouse, born June 15, 1835, was the youngest son of Benjamin and Wady (Cheek) Crouse.  He and his family lived at the crest of the Blue Ridge near what is now Blue Ridge Parkway milepost 239 (Doughton Park).  Henderson served in the Civil War for more than two years in Co. I, 61st NC Infantry.  He and his wife, Mary Ann Howell, had only one known son, John Wesley Crouse born about 1857.
