Robert Cheek, son of Richard "Dixie" CHEEK & Martha "Patsy" JENNINGS, was born Jan 1867, Alleghany Co., NC; d. aft. 1940. He m. Cynthia Dickens, daughter of William DICKENS & Elizabeth WILSON, Feb. 16, 1888, Alleghany Co., NC. She was born Jan. 1869 and died aft. 1940.

Children of Robert Cheek & Cynthia Dickens:

1. Coy Cheek, b. Nov. 12, 1887, Alleghany Co., NC; d. Nov. 12, 1918, during World War I; bur. at Arlington National Cemetery. According to his WWI draft reg. card, which was filed in Carroll Co., VA, Coy Cheek was single and employed as a motorman for the Appalachian Power Company in Switchback, WV. Military records shows that he served as a private in Company D, 320th Infantry 80th Division. His name is on a memorial to WWI dead from Grayson Co., VA, at the Grayson County Courthouse.
2. Mollie Emeline Cheek, b. Aug. 15, 1892, Alleghany Co., NC; m. James Blaine LOWE, son of John W. LOWE & Arabella WILSON, Mar. 26, 1909, Grayson Co., VA (b. Feb. 27, 1885, in Surry Co., NC); bur. Maple Hill Cemetery, Bluefield, Tazewell Co., VA.
3. Gollie Verna Cheek, b. Oct. 1898, Alleghany Co., NC; d. 1931, Grayson Co., VA; m. Clayton Columbus BARTLETT, son of Richard BARTLETT & Margaret TRIMBLE, 1917, McDowell Co., WV (b. Sept. 26, 1893, d. June 27, 1927); bur. Felts Memorial Cem., Galax, VA. Clayton C. Bartlett is buried at the McKenzie Cemetery on Route 809 in Grayson Co., VA.
4. Bessie Cheek, b. abt. 1902, Alleghany Co., NC; d. unknown; m. James Kyle ADAMS, Feb. 16, 1919, Grayson Co., VA, son of Kenley Chapman ADAMS & Mary Jane AUSTIN(b. Nov. 13, 1898; d. Jan. 20, 1938). James Kyle Adams is buried next to his parents at the Felts Memorial Cemetery in Galax, VA. In the 1940 census, the Adams children were living with Robert & Cynthia Cheek. It is possible Bessie had died or remarried.

obert Cheek was born in January 1867, according to the 1900 Census. He married Cynthia DICKENS, the daughter of William DICKENS & Elizabeth WILSON of Alleghany County on Feb. 16, 1888. Based on census records, they had one son and three daughters. They were living in Grayson County, VA, in 1940, then no further records. They reportedly moved to the Midwest, possibly Kansas.
