Robert Lee Truitt, son of Henry J. TRUITT & Hannah BROWNING, was born Nov. 2, 1848, in Orange Co., NC, and died May 12, 1928, in Alleghany Co., NC. He married (1) Rosa Ann Richardson, daughter of Alexander RICHARDSON & Martha CHEEK, Sept. 12, 1878, in Alleghany Co., NC. She was born Sept. 25, 1846, in Alleghany Co., NC, and died July 12, 1893, in Alleghany Co., NC. He married (2) Mary Jane Blevins Rector, daughter of John J. BLEVINS & Pinkey CHEEK, June 1, 1895, in Alleghany Co., NC. She was born Sept. 3, 1838, in Ashe Co., NC, and died Jan. 7, 1929, in Alleghany Co., NC. Robert and Rosa Ann Truitt are buried at the Garfield Truitt Cemetery, Road 1407, Alleghany Co., NC. Mary Jane is buried at the Crab Creek Primitive Baptist Church, off Hwy 18 at Road 1450, Ennice, Alleghany Co., NC.

Notes

obert Lee Truitt was the son of Henry J. Truitt and Hannah Browning of Wilkes County, NC.  His family came to Wilkes County during the 1850's from Caswell County, NC, and settled in Trap Hill.  According to the 1850 census of Caswell County, Robert was born in Orange County, NC.  In the 1860 census, Robert Truitt, age 12, is listed with his parents, Henry J. and Hannah Truitt, in Wilkes County, NC, Trap Hill Township (p.68).  In 1870, according to the census, he was 22 years old and working as a domestic servant for Hiram Edwards in Alleghany County, NC, Gap Civil Township.

Robert Truitt married twice.  His first wife was Rosa Ann RICHARDSON, daughter of Alexander RICHARDSON & Martha CHEEK.  She had four children and died in 1893 at the age of 46.  Two years later, Robert married Rosa's cousin, Mary Jane BLEVINS RECTOR, daughter of John J. BLEVINS & Pinkey CHEEK.
